Sevilla vs Real Betis: Preview
Sevilla form analysis
Sevilla’s recent run of games has showcased occasional attacking threat but a lack of consistency in performances. They started with a lucky 1-0 home win over rivals Barcelona thanks to a Sergio Ramos own goal against the run of play. However, problems surfaced in attack in their next game – a 2-2 home draw with Rayo Vallecano, going two behind early before Sow and En-Nesyri’s late equalizer salvaged a point.
Their offensive struggles continued in their next match, a 1-1 away draw with Real Madrid – relying on an Alaba own goal to claim a point after another largely blunt display. Sevilla’s attack clicked better next game but defensive issues persisted in a 2-2 away draw at Cadiz, equalizing twice through Ocampos and Rakitic after going behind early on. Most recently they ground out a 1-1 away draw at Celta Vigo, equalizing late through En-Nesyri in another unconvincing performance. Overall, Sevilla have struggled for consistency in attack while also looking vulnerable defensively this season.
Real Betis form analysis
Betis’ recent run of games has showcased an entertaining attack full of flair but defensive issues leaving them exposed at times. They started with an excellent 3-0 home thrashing of Valencia thanks to goals from Diao, Roca and Ezzalzouli. However, problems at the back surfaced next game as they drew 1-1 away at Alaves, going behind early before Bellerin’s lucky own goal earned them a point. This continued in their next match. Despite leading early away at Getafe – pegged back soon after by Mayoral in a 1-1 draw.
Back on track next up, Betis held on to beat Osasuna 2-1 at home thanks to strikes from Willian Jose and Isco’s dramatic late winner after conceding late. Most recently they comfortably dispatched Mallorca 2-0 at home. Courtesy of goals from Willian Jose and Perez to return to winning ways. Overall, Betis have impressed in attack with Canales, Fekir and Willian Jose standing out.
