Servette vs Slavia Prague: Preview
Servette form analysis
Les Grenats began this period positively by holding Rangers to a 1-1 home draw in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier. Kutesa’s excellent opener was canceled out by Tavernier. This was not sufficient for them to gain a spot in the Champions League.
They followed that up with an emphatic 8-0 thrashing of lower league Meyrin in the Swiss Cup. Touati grabbed a five-minute second half hat-trick in a ruthless attacking display.
However, Servette were then thrashed 1-4 away at Yverdon in their first league game, conceding 3 times in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.
Their form dipped further after losing 0-1 at home to Young Boys in the league, going behind early to a Lakomy goal. Most recently though, Servette returned to winning ways by cruising past Bulle 1-4 in the cup.
Overall, despite European disappointment, Servette have showcased their offensive potential recently, scoring 13 goals in 3 wins.
Slavia Prague form analysis
Slavia began positively by beating Zorya 2-0 at home in the first leg of their Europa League playoff tie. Late goals from Tijani and Masopust gave them control.
They then drew 1-1 away at Jablonec in the league after conceding just before halftime but equalizing via Holeš soon after. However, they suffered a 1-2 loss away to Zorya in the second leg. This still earned them a position in the Europa League group stages.
Domestically though, their form improved with an emphatic 5-1 home thrashing of Karvina in which summer signing Jurecka grabbed a brace. Most recently, Slavia ground out a 0-1 away win at Pardubice courtesy of another Jurecka penalty.
Overall, it’s been a mixed spell as Jurecka’s arrival has added productivity to a talented attack that will cause problems for any opponent if Slavia can maintain intensity for 90 minutes.
