Cricketer Virat Kohli became the first batsman to reach 50 ODI hundreds during India’s semi-final match against New Zealand on Wednesday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. By completing this, he surpassed Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar for the most tons in the format.

Kohli reached his triple century off 106 deliveries after batting at number three. It was the former captain of India’s third century in the current tournament, following innings against South Africa and Bangladesh.

Kohli’s century took 106 balls, and he celebrated by leaping into the air. Bollywood legend Anushka Sharma and his wife were among the most vocal supporters at Wankhede. Virat bowed low in response to his idol’s applause, and Sachin clapped as well.
Shreyas Iyer of India became only the third person in history to score two centuries in a row during an ODI World Cup. Iyer hit his second ODI World Cup century against New Zealand in the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-final at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Shreyas joined captain Rohit Sharma (2019 World Cup) and head coach Rahul Dravid (1999 World Cup) as the third Indian batsman to score hundreds in consecutive World Cup ODIs. Iyer scored an unbeaten century in India’s final league-stage match against the Netherlands on November 12.
