Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has demanded a rematch against the current champion, Dricus Du Plessis. “Stillknocks” successfully defended his middleweight title at UFC 305 against Israel Adesanya. Du Plessis looked dominant during the whole fight and put on a stellar performance. He made “The Last Stylebender” submit in the fourth round of the match. Now Strickland seems desperate to face Dricus because soon after his victory, “Tarzan” took Instagram and stated that he is coming after the belt.
Reacting to the post, a user asked Strickland where he would like to face Dricus Du Plessis, to which Strickland replied, “Vegas man…I always travel. Let me fight in my country…Unless you want me to go fix South Africa.” Strickland further wrote that he can go to Africa and fight in front of a bunch of white people.
Dana White promised to organize an event in South Africa
Tarzan mentioned this because UFC CEO Dana White promised to hold the first-ever UFC event in South Africa if Du Plessis managed to win the match. Now that “Stillknocks” has secured the victory, the promotion can soon organize an event in South Africa. Meanwhile, Sean Strickland always appears to be dissatisfied with the result of UFC 297. After defeating Israel Adesanya to become the middleweight champion, Sean lost the title in his very first championship defense match against Du Plessis.
The middleweight division has two title contenders now
Although the UFC 297 clash between Strickland and Du Plessis was a close one, Strickland expressed his disappointment when the judges ruled in favor of Dricus Du Plessis. “Tarzan” quickly demanded a rematch, which was turned down by both White and Dricus. Instead, Strickland was booked against Paulo Costa at UFC 302. Sean scored a split decision victory against Costa and strengthened his claim for a potential title shot. However, Robert Whittaker emerged as another potential title contender. After suffering a TKO loss at UFC 290 against Dricus, “The Reaper” made a strong comeback and defeated Paulo Costa and Ikram Aliskerov.

Now both Whittaker and Sean Strickland are in the title contender race. Reacting to this, “Tarzan” stated that the UFC should look at the rankings of both fighters and he also urged Dana White to do the right thing. It remains to be seen who will be the next opponent for middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis.
