The UFC middleweight fighter Sean Strickland is once again in the news for his new controversial statement. This time he has made comments about Belal Muhammad. “Tarzan” is known for his blunt talks outside the Octagon, this all started in 2021 when he posted a homophobic tweet that said having a gay son would mean he has failed as a man. The series of controversial comments continued as he once said women should be put back in the kitchen. Ahead of his UFC 397 clash against Dricus Du Plessis, the former middleweight champion threatened to stab his opponent. Now his recent comments have caused another negative ripple among the MMA community.
Strickland made a racist comment on Instagram
Belal Muhammad is set to face Welterweight champion Leon Edwards this Saturday. The match is highly anticipated and has generated a lot of interest, but Sean Strickland’s involvement in the match has certainly stripped up the atmosphere. “Tarzan” commented on an Instagram post and launched a completely racist attack on Muhammad. Sean wrote, “Belal looks like why I have to take my shoes off in airports…..”
Both Strickland and Muhammad have been slinging insults at each other for over a year now. Strickland even challenged “Remember the name” to fight with ‘gloves, no gloves.’
Strickland wants to win the middleweight title back
Meanwhile, Strickland is trying to regain his middleweight title, and his rivalry with Khamzat Chimaev is heating up. Chimaev recently claimed that he dominated “Tarzan” in their face-off. This pissed Sean a lot.
Initially, Sean Strickland claimed that he was dominant when he sparred with Khamzat Chimaev. However, dismissing the claims, “Borz” claimed that he even has video footage to justify his claims. While this was supposed to be the end of the feud, Strickland seemed angry and responded to Chimaev. “Tarzan” claimed that he brought the smoke to him. However, he also clarified that his initial focus was to face the winner of Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya. It remains to be seen if he is able to substantiate his point with his performance inside the ring.
Strickland lost his middleweight title at UFC 297 in January against Dricus Du Plessis via split decision loss. After that, he faced Paulo Costa at UFC 302 and won the match via split decision. His next fight is yet to be booked by the promotion. However, Sean stated that he believes that he deserves a title shot next.
