Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland faced off against each other at UFC 276 in 2022, but they still have a great bond with each other. Both of them belong to different weight classes right now, but they still spar with each other, as seen on Brazilian’s Instagram. After the sparring session, Strickland had a few things to share with Alex Pereira. Tarzan appeared intimidated to fight “Poatan” despite spending time in the Octagon with him.
Strickland and Pereira share a good friendship
The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Pereira faced Sean Strickland at UFC 276. Although “Tarzan” had his moments, the Brazilian won after he hit a brutal left hook that knocked his opponent down. This performance further established Pereira as a strong contender. Since that contest, both fighters have shared a friendly relationship over the years. They both train with each other on several occasions. Pereira was also seen in Strickland’s corner during his title fight against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297.
The two men recently sparred with each other
During their recent sparring session, “Tarzan” called Pereira a big motherf******. Just like he does in his bouts. Despite the language barrier, Sean was talking to the Brazilian. The former Middleweight champion claimed that he was afraid to spar with “Poatan” because of his power. After the sparring session, Strickland wrote on social media, “Why do you punch so hard? We should have a scientific study on this man’s power.” Sean believes that Pereira should be thoroughly researched because he lands devastating power on opponents.
Alex Pereira responded by writing, “Always a pressure to train with my brother, We are always evolving.” Both men shared mutual respect for each other in the comments made on Instagram. MMA fans were overjoyed to see Strickand Pereira sparring and being friendly with each other. Dricus Du Plessis is scheduled to defend his middleweight title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. Fans expressed their disappointment about the undeserving title shot for Adesanya, as he got it despite losing to Strickland.
Tarzan wants to fight for the title
Strickland also expressed his views on this matter several times and showed his desire to fight Dricus Du Plessis for the title. “Tarzan” defeated “The Last Stylebender” at UFC 293 which is called one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. Robert Whittaker is another name that fans wanted Strickland to face. However, Sean remained resolute on fighting for the titles and claimed that he would face the winner of Du Plessis vs. Adesanya.
