It seems like Sean O’Malley is building a rivalry with former UFC champion Conor McGregor. O’Malley is currently preparing for his second title defense of the Bantamweight championship against Merab Dvalishvili. His first title defense was against Marlon Vera and he is in great shape. However, Dvalishvili also has been performing amazingly and is currently on a 10 fight winning streak. After his victory over Henry Cejudo, “The Machine” became the number one contender for the bantamweight title.
Suga wants to fight McGregor
While the fight at UFC 306 is expected to be a blast, “Suga” seems to have something else on his mind. A few days ago, O’Malley expressed his desire to get to Conor McGregor’s financial status. He also mentioned his aspirations to fight “The Notorious.” Although a clash between them currently seems impossible, Sean took a dig at McGregor. Recently, it was reported that Conor McGregor has been given a driving ban for a period of two years. This news caught O’Malley’s attention and he thought it was an opportunity for him to step in. Suga reposted the news of McGregor’s driving ban on X and wrote, “Because of his toe?”
The Irishman pulled out of UFC 303
Conor McGregor was set to headline UFC 303 with Michael Chandler. The Irishman was finally going to enter the UFC Octagon after a three-year hiatus. Unfortunately, the bout got canceled as McGregor injured his pinky toe during a training session and pulled out of the event. This is the reason Sean O’Malley tried to take a dig at the Irishman. He called himself a better fighter than McGregor and claimed he could easily beat the “Mystic Mac” in a fight.
“I believe I can beat Conor in a bout. I’m not just saying that. I think stylistically I could beat Conor in a fight. Conor is 5’7 and I’m 6’3, he is thick but he is short,” said O’Malley.
The Mystic Mac has not responded to O’Malley yet
McGregor has not yet responded to Sean O’Malley’s dig and his claims of beating him in a fight. However, if we look at McGregor’s history, he has always been vocal about his thoughts and never backs to trash talk and responding to his rivals. So MMA fans might soon see a response from him.
