The current UFC Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has picked his winner of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry boxing fight set to take place on July 20. O’Malley believes that it will be a very close contest between the two fighters. He acknowledged Perry’s experience in bare-knuckle fighting. However, according to him, Jake Paul has been boxing, which is somewhat different from bare-knuckle fighting.
O”Malley shared his opinion about the matchup
“The Problem Child” has already agreed to a rematch with Mike Perry in MMA after their boxing bout on the coming Saturday. Sean O’Malley shared his opinion about the fight that will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. “Suga” thinks that this will be the toughest test for Paul apart from the Tommy Fury fight, in which the 27-year-old lost via decision. While speaking on the TimboSugar show, Sean stated that he thinks Jake will beat Mike and that the fight will be very competitive.
Analyzing the contest further, O’Malley highlighted the difference between both fighters, saying, ”Jake’s been boxing, Mike’s been bare-knuckle boxing.” “The Problem Child” currently has a professional record of 9-1, including six knockout wins. His most recent win came against Ryan Bourland in March. Meanwhile, Mike Perry has only fought one professional boxing match, where he lost to Kenneth McNeil in 2015.
Mike Perry has great experience in combat sports
Perry has plenty of experience in BKFC and is a UFC veteran. He has defeated combat sports legends like Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, Venom Page and a few more in BKFC. His bare-knuckle experience might come in handy, but boxing is a little different. Currently, Paul is clearly the more experienced boxer than Perry.
Jake Paul believes that he is putting the Mike Tyson bout at risk by facing Perry. In an interview, he stated how special it was for him to face someone of Tyson’s stature, who is one of the greatest boxers. Perry presents a different challenge to him and is much younger. However, Paul is confident that he will win.
