The UFC Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is set to defend his title for the second time. He will face Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Noche. O’Malley’s last fight in the octagon was at UFC 299, where he avenged his only loss of his career against Marlon Vera. “Suga” displayed a brilliant performance against “Chito” and scored a unanimous decision win. However, his upcoming challenge, Merab Dvalishvili, is being considered one of the toughest fights of his career. “The Machine” is an incredible fighter and currently ranks #1 in the bantamweight division of the UFC. He might trouble Sean in the Octagon. However, “Suga” is not bothered by this and is already thinking beyond this contest as he has challenged Conor McGregor.
Suga claims he can beat McGregor
The former UFC champion Conor McGregor is someone everyone wants to clash with. Most recently, he was called out by Oleksandr Usyk and Jake Paul and now Sean O’Malley has joined the list. On his YouTube channel, O’Malley drew comparisons between “The Notorious” and himself. He seemed very confident about his chances against the Irish star. Sean stated that he believes he can beat McGregor in a fight. “Conor is 5’7’’… he is thick but he’s short. Talk sh**, let’s do it,” said the bantamweight champion. This is not the first time O’Malley has challenged someone outside his weight class. After his win against Vera, “Suga” called out Ilia Topuria. However, that matchup was never finalized.
Meanwhile, there is no certainty about when Conor McGregor will make his UFC return. He is currently recovering from his toe injury, which led to the cancellation of his UFC 303 clash. Interestingly, renowned MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has provided some details about when McGregor will be potentially back.
Potential date for McGregor’s return
Recently on the podcast MMA Hour, Helwani gave his opinion on Conor McGregor’s comeback. Providing a potential comeback day, he stated December 14 could be the return date for “The Notorious.” McGregor has given signs that his recovery is going well. Recently, at a BKFC press conference, the “Mystic Mac” mentioned having two more fights in his UFC contract. So it will be interesting to see how things unfold in the future.
