The dream finally came true for Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan who received his Test Cap ahead of the third Test against England. After scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket the time has finally come when Sarfaraz will prove his prowess in the longest format of cricket donning India’s white jersey. With KL Rahul being ruled out due to injury & Shreyas Iyer being excluded from the squad on the back of his poor form, a debut was always on the cards for Sarfaraz.
And Rajkot Test has ended Sarfaraz Khan’s long wait of playing for the National team. On the morning of Day 1 of the third Test, legendary cricketer Anil Kumble presented the Test Cap to Sarafaraz Khan in front of his father & his wife. His father Naushad Khan & wife Romana Zahoor couldn’t control their emotions. His father was seen in tears which he tried to hide through his jacket.
After receiving the Test Cap Sarfaraz Khan went to his father & hugged him. He also met his wife who congratulated him on his proud moment. In the video shared on BCCI’s Official Twitter handle & other social media accounts his wife was seen in tears & Sarfaraz was seen wiping them. It was a special moment for Sarfaraz Khan & his entire family which will be etched in their memories for life.
Along with Sarfaraz Khan. Wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel too receives his maiden Tets Cap in the Rajkot Tets. Jurel just like Sarfaraz belongs to a humble background & has reached here after immense hard work. Both the players have waited for long for this moment & it is a special occasion for them & their family.
What Indian team look like in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test?
It won’t be easy for India to deliver in the Rajkot Test as they lack experience in the middle order with no Virat Kohli & KL Rahul in the equation. Adding to their woes is the absence of Ishan Kishan who initially had taken a break from Cricket after being dropped from the South Africa series & now he is not considered for the England Test. As per BCCI & management, he will now have to play some domestic cricket to get back into the cohort.
The Indian lineup looks formidable with the presence of Rohit Sharma, Shuban Gill & Yashasvi Jaiswal in the top order while the middle order will be taken care of by Patidar (1 Test), Sarfaraz (debut) and Jurel (debut).
Coming to the fixture, India won the toss & opted to bat first. However, India didn’t got off to a good start as Yashasvi Jaiswal (22-1), Shubman Gill (24) & Rajat Patidar (33) got dismissed early reducing India to 150-3. However, Captain Rohit Sharma smashing 80 runs off 133 balls & Jadeja with 52 runs off 105 balls have steadied India’s ship & helped them to reach a stable 152 runs score.
Whether the duo could continue their stable stand or Babzball team will continue their havoc with the ball? All the questions will be answered as the match continues.
