Cricket Nepal has confirmed that Sandeep Lamichhane, a well-known cricket player from Nepal who is currently out on bail due to allegations of sexual assault, will play in the forthcoming World Cup League 2 tri-series. Sandeep Lamichhane Accused Of Raping A Minor
A court found Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of Nepal’s national cricket team, guilty on Friday of raping a juvenile. A 17-year-old girl claimed that Lamichhane had sexually assaulted her in a Kathmandu hotel room in August of last year. A Nepalese court ordered Lamichhane’s release in January. When he made his debut for the Delhi Capitals franchise in 2018, Lamichhane, 23, became the first player from Nepal to compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is currently the most well-known cricket player in Nepal. Following the conclusion of the last hearings, which began on Sunday, a single bench of Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal issued the order on Friday, according to the Kathmandu Post. Lamichhane was found guilty of rape on Friday by the Kathmandu District Court.

Lamichhne is now free on bond. The cricket player was ordered to be released on January 12 by the Patan High Court. In response to Lamichhane’s review appeal, a joint bench of judges Dhruva Raj Nanda and Ramesh Dahal granted Lamichhane’s release under certain conditions and on a bail bond of Rs 2 million.

Following a detention hearing, the Kathmandu District Court on November 4, 2022, issued an order sending Lamichhane to the central jail in Sundhara. Lamichhane has filed a challenge against the order with the high court.
A case against Lamichhane was filed by the Kathmandu District Attorney’s Office on August 21, alleging that he had raped the girl.
On September 6, the child filed a charge at the Metropolitan Police Circle in Gaushala against the cricket player.
On October 6, upon his arrival back from Trinidad & Tobago, where he participated in the Caribbean Premier League, he was apprehended by Nepal Police at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The district attorney had wanted money from Lamichhane through the charge sheet in exchange for the victim’s supposed physical and mental torment. The property and bank account of Lamichhane were frozen following the filing of the charge sheet.
