Salernitana vs Torino: Preview
Salernitana form analysis
Granata finished last season a comfortable eleven points above the relegation zone in 15th position. They made an encouraging start by twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 away at Roma. Candreva netted both goals to claim a point after Belotti’s brace had put Roma ahead twice.
They built on that with a hard fought 1-1 home draw against Udinese. Dia’s second half leveler earned the point after conceding just before the hour mark.
However, Salernitana were unable to maintain that momentum last time out, suffering a 0-2 defeat away at fellow promoted side Lecce. Second half goals from Krstovic and Strefezza saw them beaten.
Overall, it’s been a mixed beginning for Salernitana as they aim to avoid another relegation battle. Competing well with superior opposition is encouraging but turning positive performances into wins is the next step. Maintaining intensity for 90 minutes will be key. But the early signs are promising.
Torino form analysis
Torino’s last campaign ended in a mid-table position. This season began with a stalemate as they drew 0-0 at home to Cagliari on the opening weekend. It was an underwhelming display against limited opposition.
However, they showed signs of improvement in their first Serie A match despite losing 1-4 at home to champions AC Milan. After leveling briefly, Torino competed well before conceding three second half goals.
Most recently, Torino recorded their first victory by edging past Genoa 1-0 at home courtesy of Radonjic’s dramatic late winner. It was an accomplished, disciplined performance against tough opponents.
Overall, it’s been an inconsistent start to the campaign for Torino as they adapt to coach Ivan Juric’s new ideas. Turning draws into wins is the priority, with just one open play goal so far. But the platform is there for Torino to progress, if they can add more attacking potency to their trademark defensive solidity.
