Right from Virat Kohli to R Jadeja, KL Rahul, and now Shreyas Iyer almost every player has been felicitated from the Dressing Room Fielder of the Match award. On Thursday night, it was Shreyas Iyer who lifted the dressing room player of the match award. Shreyas Iyer’s acrobatic fielding efforts during the IND vs SLK fixture helped India to wrap Sri Lanka’s innings for just 55 runs registering a 302-run win.
Shreyas Iyer took two catches in the fixture which helped Siraj & Jadeja to dismiss Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dilshan Madushanka respectively. He was like a livewire in the field as he stopped many crucial runs & boundaries. Legendary player, Tendulkar announced the much-anticipated dressing Player of the Match award. Shreyas received the medal from Rahul after his name was announced.

The best fielder of the match award has gained lots of traction & fan following. Infact, India’s fielding coach T Dilip has come up with many creative ideas to announce this epic Fielder of the Match award. He once used a TV set to flash the name of the medal winner. The other time, the players got to know the medallist with the big screen at the stadium revealing the name, and last time, the spidercam brought the slate on which the best fielder’s name was written.
After the IND vs SL fixture as well a unique way of announcing the winner was adopted. Tendulkar came on the TV Screen’s presence in the Wankhede dressing room & announced the name of India’s best Fielder of the Match award.
What special message Sachin Tendulkar had for the Indian team
Sachin Tendulkar also had a special message for the team. He asked each & every member of the team to give their best performance during the World Cup 2023. he further said that the medal has brought the team together & is motivating them to do well. Sachin further recollected the fond memory of the 2003 campaign & told the current India team about the paper which every Indian player of the 2003 squad would sign before going out to play. What was special about that paper was the fact that ‘I can & we can’ was written on it. Lastly, Sachin wished the team the best of luck for future games.
Coming to the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India has already qualified for the semi-finals. But one new agenda will be on the Indian team’s mind. They would aim to remain in the top two so that he can ensure that he plays the fourth team in the last four, who are usually the ones who have a tough time reaching the knockout stage. For that, India needs to beat South Africa on November 5 in Kolkata.
