The MCA’s homage to Tendulkar’s 50th birthday, which falls on April 24 this year and is being commemorated by cricket enthusiasts worldwide, was first revealed in February and was scheduled for June or July.
Tendulkar himself approved of the pose, which was chosen after reviewing hundreds of action photos of the cricket legend. The iconic sixer shot with a lofted drive position, his left leg stretched, torso slightly bent, head high, and bat pointed skyward was chosen.
Tendulkar, a resident of Bandra, not only played in some of his greatest games and broke or established several records there, but it also hosted his final Test match ten years prior, in November 2013, just before he retired.
