Positive Test for Nandrolone Metabolite Overturned
Professional boxer Ryan Garcia has received some positive news in an ongoing doping controversy. Veteran boxing reporter Dan Rafael reported on Wednesday that Garcia has been cleared of a potential positive test for the 19-Norandrosterone metabolite, a byproduct of the banned substance nandrolone.
Initial tests showed traces of the metabolite, but further analysis using Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS) confirmed a negative result.

Positive Test for Ostarine Still Under Review
However, the cloud hasn’t entirely lifted for Garcia. He also tested positive for ostarine, a banned Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM), in samples collected on April 19th and 20th, the day before and the day of his recent victory over Devin Haney. Garcia’s team has contested these findings by requesting a B-sample test, with the results still pending. As per Rafael, the B-sample is expected to be opened on May 22nd.

Garcia has vehemently denied knowingly using any performance-enhancing drugs. He took to Twitter following Wednesday’s update, expressing relief and claiming vindication.
No Threshold for Ostarine, Positive B-Sample Means Trouble
According to Rafael, there’s no permissible amount for ostarine. If any trace is detected in Garcia’s B-sample, it will be considered a positive test.
Levels high enough to test positive.. obviously it would have an effect.. u dirty bitch https://t.co/ApjxaLrqAD

Adding another layer to the controversy, Garcia stated that for his next fight, he’d be willing to allow his opponent to use performance-enhancing drugs.
It’s important to remember that Garcia defeated Haney via a majority decision in the same fight where the positive tests originated. Garcia even managed to score three knockdowns during the bout, handing Haney his first professional loss in 32 fights.
However, Garcia himself missed weight by three pounds, disqualifying him from winning Haney’s WBC super lightweight title.
The saga continues as Garcia awaits the results of his B-sample test for ostarine. Only time will tell if the cloud of doping will fully dissipate or cast a longer shadow over his career.
