Ross County vs St Mirren: Preview
Ross County form analysis
The Staggies has struggled defensively in recent matches, conceding 13 goals across their last five games. On February 24th, Ross County held on for a 3-2 home win over Livingston in a thriller despite letting a two-goal lead slip away thanks to late heroics from Sims. Earlier on February 17th though, Ross County fell 2-0 away to Dundee United after conceding on either side of halftime to Tiffoney. Prior to that on February 15th, Ross County battled hard but ultimately fell 3-1 to Rangers with Murray temporarily getting them level after early and late Rangers goals.
On February 7th, Ross County was hammered on the road 5-0 by Motherwell in an utterly forgettable performance. Ross County’s best recent result came in a narrow 1-0 home loss to St. Johnstone on February 3rd. So while Ross County has shown occasional attacking promise recently, their defense has badly let them down, conceding goals in bunches to opponents. Tighter organization and composure at the back will be vital towards transforming results.
St Mirren form analysis
St. Mirren has been relatively solid defensively but prone to inconsistent goal scoring to either side of that defense. On February 24th, St. Mirren earned a 2-0 home win over St. Johnstone thanks to an own goal and late strike from the prolific Mandron. Earlier on February 17th though, St. Mirren fell 1-0 away to Livingston from a first half Yengi winner. Prior to that on February 8th, Mandron and Olusanya led St. Mirren to a 2-0 home win over Dundee.
St Mirren’s best recent performance came in a 3-0 domination of Hibernian on February 3rd with goals from Gogić, Kiltie and Mandron. However, on January 27th St. Mirren began this recent run with a narrow 1-0 home loss to Rangers despite largely holding their own. So overall, St. Mirren has defended well enough to compete but relies heavily on Mandron for goals. More consistent secondary scoring could translate tight losses and draws into more wins.
