WWE fans got the best New Year’s gift as The Rock started 2024 with a bag on Raw and returned to the company for the second time in a matter of months. Fans noted that The Rock appeared on TV for College Game Day, just hours away from where Raw was scheduled to air that evening, and WWE President Nick Khan was seen hiding in the background of an image of The Rock that went viral online rapidly.
The Rock shocked the WWE Universe
After tricking fans into believing that Jinder Mahal was the returning WWE Champion for the WWE Day 1, The Rock’s music hit made the audience go crazy. The Rock then made a comment that shocked the WWE Universe and asked fans if they thought he should sit at the head of the table. He gave a clear reference that WWE fans might actually get to see The Rock vs. Roman Reigns match that has been teased for a very long time.
The Tribal Chief’s response
Reigns was clearly not present on Raw, but he clearly watched it while sitting at home. The Tribal Chief posted just a laughing emoji on social media immediately after his cousin’s challenge. Not too much, but enough to get fans more excited, and it’s worth noting how often the Undisputed Universal Champion posts anything on social media.
At which event can the cousins face each other ?
Now that the match seems to be confirmed, fans are trying to find out when it could happen. The possibilities are definitely of WrestleMania. During an episode of Young Rock, Johnson teased that the match between the two would be so big that only the main event of WrestleMania would be worthy of it. However, WWE is still set to have Cody Rhodes dethrone Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania, and there will be a stadium show in Australia to sell tickets, perhaps featuring The Rock vs. Reigns at Elimination Chamber.

The company has many options not only WrestleMania and the Elimination Chamber but also a possible Royal Rumble. It’s unlikely that The Rock will be free for more than one of those dates. Not only does this mean that the date for the match has already been set, but it also means that Reigns will defeat The Rock. Since Dwayne is unlikely to be free to defend the Undisputed title if he wins, WWE will want to put it on Reigns and want him to defeat his cousin wherever the match takes place.
