Roma vs Torino: Preview
Roma form analysis
Over their past five Serie A matches, Roma have shown signs of finding consistency again after an up and down first half of the season under Daniele De Rossi. Home wins over struggling Verona and Cagliari boosted by the goalscoring form of Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala kick-started this productive run. Despite a blip in losing 4-2 at home to rivals Inter Milan, Roma responded impressively by beating relegation candidates Frosinone 3-0 away from home.
Second half goals from Devyne Rensch, Sardar Azmoun and Leandro Paredes wrapped up a professional performance. So while Roma still have issues creating clear chances in tighter games, their offensive game has clicked over the last five matches – scoring 13 times. Roma have the firepower to consolidate a top four spot. Tightening up in defense will be crucial in determining whether Roma can achieve such a feat.
Torino form analysis
Torino’s recent Serie A form has been inconsistent with two wins and three draws in their last five league matches. They started this run with a goalless draw away to struggling Genoa before an impressive 2-1 win away at Cagliari. Diego Zapata opened the scoring in the first half before Samuele Ricci doubled Torino’s advantage. Despite a late consolation goal from Nicola Viola, Torino held on for an important away victory. However, Torino were held to back-to-back goalless home draws by Salernitana and Sassuolo next.
Away to Sassuolo, Zapata quickly equalized Andrea Pinamonti’s opener but Torino could not find a winner. At the latest, Torino bounced back with an important 2-0 home win over Lecce. Right-back Raoul Bellanova broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half before Zapata wrapped up the victory late on. So while Torino have been solid defensively, they have struggled to score goals from open play. If they are to make a late push for the top table, they will need to find more attacking spark and consistency in front of goal.
