Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, complimented the Indian Super League (ISL) for assisting the national football squad in making significant advancements in world football. Speaking at a gathering in Mumbai, Rohit expressed his admiration for the Blue Tigers’ high level of self-assurance and urged them to succeed in the upcoming demanding international football season. The Intercontinental Cup victory in Odisha in June marked the beginning of the Indian national team’s current run of success in multi-nation tournament victories. They immediately succeeded with a resounding victory at the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) tournament in Bengaluru in July. The Sunil Chhetri-led team plans to put on a strong showing at the upcoming AFC Asian Cup and the Asian Games, which will both take place early in 2019. “I’d really like to see them play against a great European squad and compete head-to-head. They always appear to be playing with a lot of confidence. The King’s Cup in Thailand will be attended by the Indian national football squad before the Asian Games in September–October. The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, which will take place in India from October 5–November 19, will see Rohit captain the Men in Blue.
