Indian captain Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 beginning on October 4, 2023. And ahead of the marquee event the prolific player has opened up about his early life struggles.
Speaking to Indian Express Rohit Sharma shed light on his childhood days. He discussed about how he had started playing the sport in the maidans of Bombay. He shared about the struggles he faced during his childhood as his parents battled financial hardships. Rohit told the English Daily Indian Express that he was very young when he left his parents’ house in Dombivi to live with his grandparents in Borivali. He highlighted the fact that his grandparent’s house was small in which around eight people used to stay.
He said that when sleeping in that small house, he needed some touch of a person or of the room’s wall so that he could sleep properly.
“I would curl up. I had a thing, I had to touch someone or something with my leg. I would sleep towards the wall, my leg touching it. Else, I can’t sleep,” said Rohit.
Rohit opened up about living in a 100 sq feet house
He further highlighted that his grandparents were very caring & looking at the financial struggles of his father Rohit’s grandfather told his father to leave Rohit at their place & take his younger brother along with him.
“Rohit ko idhar chhod de, aur chhote wale ko leke ja apne sath (leave Rohit with us and take the little one with you). That’s how I stayed in Borivali while my parents and brother stayed in Dombivli (50 km away). In some 100-odd square feet house, we used to stay, eight of us.” Thus at the age of three, Rohit was separated from his parents for some time as he lived in Borivali while his parents were some 50 kilometres away.
After facing so many hardships, the Indian Cricketer is one of the richest in the World. He has achieved all the success through his hard work & dedication towards the game. He is a self-made man who is blessed with a supportive family. Staying in a 100-square-foot house with 7 other people is not easy. But as it’s said every iron turns into gold after facing fierce heat. The same is the case with Rohit Sharma.
Rohit’s net worth is 248 crores & his earnings come from match fees, IPL earnings, and brand endorsements. Rohit is poised with cars & has a stunning car collection which is around Rs 8.25 crores. Some of his car collection includes Lamborghini Urus (Rs 4.18 crore) and Skoda Laura (Rs 12.5 lakh) standing. The prolific cricketer aims to end India’s Century drought by winning the ODI World Cup 2023 on home ground & scripting history.
We wish Rohit Sharma & CO the best of luck for the ODI World Cup 2023.
