The veteran batter has reached the 2000 Test runs mark in 40 innings just one behind Virender Sehwag who reached the milestone in 39 innings. Not only this Rohit also became the first Indian batter to reach 2000 Test runs in the WTC cycle.

The second Test began with West Indies winning the toss & Captain Brathwaite opting to bowl first. Rohit Sharma & Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings for West Indies. The duo kept hitting boundaries & smashing Windies bowlers across the park. In the nineteenth over, Kemar Roach bowled a full toss back-length delivery which the opener hit for a deep square leg six to bring his fifty off just 74 balls. And in the process of his fifty Rohit Sharma also reached the 2000 Test runs mark. He ended his innings at 80 runs off 143 balls with nine fours & two sixes in his kitty.

In his Test career, Rohit has scored 44 tons & 92 fifties in 463 innings with the best score of 264 runs. He has entered the top 5 list of highest run-scorer in Test format surpassing legendary batter MS Dhoni who has 17.092 Test runs from 535 matches in his kitty.
He now proudly joins the list of highest run-scorers in Test behind legendary batters Sourva Ganuly (18,433 runs in 421 matches), Rahul Dravid (24, 064 runs in 504 matches), Virat Kohli (25,484 runs in 500 matches), Sachin Tendulkar (34, 357 runs in 664 matches).
