Over the past few months, there have been a lot of rumours circulating about Pakistani batsman Babar Azam’s wedding, since he was recently spotted shopping for his wedding. There have been rumours that Babar purchased a Sherwani from India’s top brand, Sabyasachi, while he was there for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Babar’s close friend and Pakistani wicketkeeper, Muhammad Rizwan, recently revealed the former captain’s marital status and hinted that his big day is drawing near. He also mentioned the friendship between the two and disclosed that they consult one another when making crucial decisions.
“I requested that Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan get married, and Babar Azam will follow suit shortly. Allah commands marriage, and the bond between a husband and wife is extremely sacred. I have a great relationship with Babar. We used to talk and consult one another late at night about different facets of life,” Rizwan said to Geo News.
Rizwan comments on Babar Azam’s wedding:
“Usually, we message someone before going into their room, but because of our friendship, Babar and I can go into each other’s room whenever we want,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Babar is leading Peshawar Zalmi in the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024. This season, the right-hander has been in incredible form, amassing 447 runs from eight innings at an average of 63.85 and a strike rate of 154.67 with 104 fifty-score runs.
Because of his play, Peshawar is also enjoying a successful season; they are currently ranked second in the points table, having won five of their last nine games and accrued 11 points. But, with six victories from eight games and 12 points overall, Rizwan’s Multan Sultans are in first place.
The season for the wicketkeeper batter has been uneven; with 297 runs from nine innings at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 124.26, he is the sixth-highest run scorer of the year.
In a nail-biting PSL encounter that extended to the final over, Babar’s Peshawar Zalmi defeated Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans by four runs. Zalmi elected to bat first after winning the toss and scored an impressive 204 points.
After an explosive opening partnership of 84 runs in roughly seven overs, Babar and Saim Ayub left the field after Usama Mir’s delivery trapped him in front for 46, a decision that was later reviewed and declared to be “not out.”
Babar led the innings once again with a solid 64 off 40 deliveries. Usama Mir and Chris Jordan both bowled incredibly well, conceding 32 and 33 runs in their allocated quotas while taking three and two wickets, respectively.
