Real Mallorca vs Alaves: Preview
Real Mallorca form analysis
Mallorca have struggled for positive results recently, registering three defeats and two draws in their last five matches. They began this run by claiming a battling point in a 1-1 home draw with Valencia on October 7th, Danny Rodriguez netting an early opener before Diego Lopez equalised. However, four winless games promptly followed. Mallorca suffered a narrow 1-0 loss away at high-flying Real Sociedad on October 21st, before being held to a goalless home draw by struggling Getafe.
A 2-0 away defeat at Real Betis followed on November 4th, with goals from Willian José and Ayoze Perez sealing the win. Most recently on November 26th, Mallorca came unstuck again on their travels losing 1-0 at Atletico Madrid – unable to respond after Antoine Griezmann’s second half winner. As results have dried up, addressing Mallorca’s lack of attacking threat is crucial with just four goals scored in their last five league outings.
Alaves form analysis
Alavés’ recent form has given their supporters hope they can avoid relegation this season. A 2-1 loss away at rivals Atletico Madrid followed. Before returning to winning ways on November 5th beating fellow strugglers Almería 1-0 through Anel Ahmedhodžić goal.
Alavés then gave La Liga leaders Barcelona an almighty scare on November 12th, with Omorodion netting after just 60 seconds before Lewandowski’s brace sealed a 2-1 win. Most recently on November 25th, Alavés built on the Barcelona performance by comfortably dispatching relegation rivals Granada 3-1. After benefiting from an early own goal, Andre Rebbach and match-winner Omorodion struck. Before the break to put the game to bed. Building on such resilient displays is vital if Alavés are to produce the great escape.
