Real Madrid vs Sevilla: Preview
Real Madrid form analysis
The high-powered Real Madrid attack has continued humming along recently behind the brilliance of Vinícius, Rodrygo and Bellingham. However, some defensive vulnerabilities have surfaced. On February 18th, Madrid escaped with a 1-1 away draw at Rayo Vallecano despite an early Joselu opener. Earlier on February 10th, Madrid cruised to a 4-0 thrashing of Girona with Vinícius, Bellingham (2) and Rodrygo finding the net. Prior to that though, on February 5th, Madrid blew a late lead in a 1-1 home El Clasico draw with Atletico after Brahim Diaz’s first half strike.
On February 2nd, Madrid grinded out an efficient 2-0 away win at Getafe thanks to a Joselu brace. Madrid’s worst recent performance came on January 27th when they had to rally for a 2-1 away victory at Las Palmas after conceding first. While the attack keeps producing, tighter organization defensively is needed as leads have slipped away against quality opposition. Maintaining intensity for a full 90 minutes could translate the solid results into even more dominant scorelines.
Sevilla form analysis
Sevilla has struggled defensively in recent matches but shown an ability to grind out low-scoring wins behind a sporadically dangerous attack. On February 18th, Sevilla played Valencia to a drab 0-0 away draw with neither struggling offense able to break through. Earlier on February 11th though, Sevilla earned an impressive 1-0 home victory over a quality Atletico Madrid side thanks to an early Romero strike. Prior to that on February 6th, Sevilla took down Rayo Vallecano 2-1 away with En-Nesyri bagging a first half brace for the winners after conceding early.
On January 28th, Sevilla drew 1-1 at home with Osasuna after Budimir erased their lead. Sevilla’s worst recent performance came In a shocking 5-1 thrashing away to Girona on January 22nd with their defense totally overmatched. So while Sevilla has shown the occasional ability to grind out wins, prolonged stretches of disorganization and porous defending have led to ugly blows in their recent form. Tighter defensive structure could help transform their capable counter attack into more consistent winning form.
