Real Madrid vs Granada: Preview
Real Madrid form analysis
Los Blancos have returned to form in recent weeks after some early inconsistent displays this term under Carlo Ancelotti. On October 21st, they began with a 1-1 draw away at Sevilla – Dani Carvajal’s late goal salvaging a point after David Alaba’s own goal. But back-to-back wins promptly followed, beating rivals Barcelona 2-1 through a late Jude Bellingham brace. Madrid’s momentum stalled with a goalless home draw against Rayo Vallecano, but an emphatic response followed on November 12th.
They thrashed Valencia 5-1 as Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo both grabbed braces in a ruthless attacking display. This clinical form continued on November 26th as Madrid cruised to a 3-0 win away at struggling Cádiz – Rodrygo again scoring twice along with Bellingham. With Karim Benzema finding fitness and the likes of Vinícius and Rodrygo impressing, Madrid have their swagger back. Sustaining intensity levels is key, but Ancelotti’s seasoned squad look well set for a title run.
Granada form analysis
Granada have struggled for positive results in recent weeks, with four defeats and a draw from their last five games. On October 21st they suffered a 2-0 home loss to high-flying Osasuna. Things went from bad to worse a week later as Granada were comfortably beaten 3-2 at home by Villarreal, twice pulling goals back through Ricard Sánchez and Myrto Uzuni but to no avail. The defeats kept coming on November 5th with a 1-0 loss away at Valencia after conceding a first half penalty.
Granada stopped the rot with a hard fought 1-1 home draw against Getafe on November 11th as Gonzalo Villar’s equaliser grabbed them a point. However, another defeat promptly followed on November 25th as they went down 3-1 away at relegation rivals Alavés – Uzuni’s late penalty a mere consolation. Overall Granada have looked extremely vulnerable defensively and lacked potency in attack to trouble opponents. With a league low seven goals scored so far, addressing these issues is crucial under pressure as they fight for survival this term.
