Real Betis vs Cadiz: Preview
Real Betis form analysis
Betis began with a 0-0 draw away at Atletico Madrid in a tight game between two quality sides. But defensive issues surfaced in a 2-4 home loss to Athletic Bilbao, despite taking a two goal lead through Willian Jose and Isco.
Betis did bounce back to beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 at home thanks to a Willian Jose goal, showing resilience. However, they were then hammered 0-5 away at Barcelona in a heavy defeat. Most recently, Betis lost 0-1 away to Rangers in the Europa League, again exposing problems defensively.
Overall, Betis have showcased their attacking talents, led by Willian Jose and Isco. But they have been far too open at the back, conceding cheap goals against both Bilbao and Barca. Tighter organization and concentration is needed defensively for Betis to get their season back on track. Going forward they carry a threat, but it counts for little if they cannot stop leaking goals.
Cadiz form analysis
Cadiz made a winning start by beating Alaves 1-0 at home through a San Emeterio goal. They put up a good fight in a 0-2 loss away at Barcelona, staying in the game until late goals sealed it.
Cadiz then drew 1-1 at home against Almeria in another tight game between two evenly matched sides. Their best performance came in a 3-1 home win over Villarreal, playing some excellent attacking football. But they were brought back down to earth in a 0-3 defeat away at Bilbao, outfought by the hosts.
Overall, Cadiz have been fairly solid, keeping games tight against superior opposition like Barcelona. At their best, they have shown they can trouble good teams, as evidenced in the win over Villarreal. However, a lack of consistency has been an issue, highlighted in the poor display against Bilbao. If Cadiz can build on positives like the wins over Alaves and Villarreal, they have a good chance of avoiding relegation this season. But they will need to improve their away form and battle harder against the league’s best teams.
