RB Leipzig vs Stuttgart: Preview
RB Leipzig form analysis
On match day 1 Leipzig struggled to contain Leverkusen’s attacking threat early on and fell behind. They pulled one back before the break through Olmo’s header. Henrichs went close with some efforts from range. But they couldn’t find an equalizer despite late chances for Poulsen and Openda. In midfield Leipzig lacked control at times. Defensively they were opened up too easily on occasions. It was a disappointing performance from Leipzig who drop points on the road.
RB Leipzig has had mixed results in their last four league matches last season. They started with a narrow 0-1 defeat to Freiburg. However, they bounced back with a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen, fighting from behind with late goals. They then beat Bayern Munich 1-3 with two late penalties.
This shows their ability to score late goals. Their next match was a 4-2 victory over Schalke 04 where they led 2-0 early but conceded twice to level it before scoring late again. Some trends that stand out are their tendency to score late goals in close matches, showing strong fighting spirit. However, their defense has also conceded late goals in two matches, showing some vulnerability.
Overall their performances have been decent, picking up wins over top sides like Bayern, but their recent loss highlights the need to strengthen defensive solidity late in matches. They have dangerous attacking players who can score at any time but need to be more consistent defensively to maintain a high league position.
Stuttgart form analysis
Against Bochum on the opening match day, Stuttgart were dominant from the outset and took the lead early through a Guirassy strike. They continued to threaten through Silas, Jeong and Führich. Zagadou doubled their advantage with a header before Silas added a third. Stuttgart remained in control in the second half and Silas grabbed his second. Guirassy then rounded off the scoring late on. It was a confident attacking display with the midfield and wingbacks providing great service. A comfortable home win for Stuttgart.
Stuttgart have been in good form towards the end of last season They started with a 2-1 home win over Hertha Berlin where they fought back from a goal down. In their next match they earned a good 1-1 draw away at Leverkusen, taking the lead from the penalty spot. However, they were then thrashed 1-4 at home by Mainz after initially taking the lead. But they bounced back well with a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim where they equalized late.
Stuttgart scoring freely in some matches like against Bochum should be looked at as a positive. Guirassy has also been in great goalscoring form. They have shown resilience by fighting back from behind on occasions.
However, the heavy home loss to Mainz highlights defensive vulnerabilities. Overall though, they seem to be gaining momentum with one defeat in the last five. If they can further solidify their defense to match their attacking potency, Stuttgart could continue climbing the table.
