WWE Superstar Randy Orton recently appeared on an episode of The Bump and had a chit-chat with Kayla Braxton. He discussed his return, future and many more things. During the conversation, Orton revealed how many title opportunities or runs he has left and then talked about a dream opponent in a dream match on a big stage. While saying he believed he would get more title opportunities, Orton said that he wanted a match with John Cena.
Orton’s dream match before retiring
Orton stated that his 14 title reigns so much to him, so to make it 15 or 16, he would love to have that happen. The Viper revealed that he lies awake at night dreaming of the next title shot because he feels and knows that it’s guaranteed. “I’m feeling pretty healthy and I feel like I’ve got a lot of time left in my career where I’m going to come back around and wear that title at least one or two more times,” said Orton.
The 14-time champion then spoke about who he wanted to wrestle. According to Orton, a dream match for him would be where he somehow finds himself in a position where he is fighting for the title at WrestleMania.
“I don’t know how you get there. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but I’ve never wrestled John in a singles match at WrestleMania. So he, we had some battles back in the day so like, to be able to relive that after all this time, it’s not only something I want, I think the fans will eat it up too,” said Orton.
The match is unlikely to happen
While this is a great idea that would definitely hype WWE fans, this match is unlikely to ever happen. Now, Cena is not a full-time wrestler and is also closer to retirement, if we see. If he returns, his matches will be high-profile but not necessarily big enough to draw him into a title match with Randy Orton for the WWE championship. Both stars have given great matches to the WWE Universe in the past and both have shared one of the best rivalries in the company. However, the duo share a great and close friendship in real life.
