There was a time when it seemed that Randy Orton’s wrestling career might be over. Some serious injuries derailed his run to the top and kept him out of action for a year. He recently returned from surgery and says he is feeling better than before. “The Viper” is feeling so good that he recently revealed he is planning to wrestle until he’s 50 and do so with WWE so he can hit the 30-year mark with the company.
Orton wants to continue full-time wrestling
Orton recently appeared on Adam’s Apple, where he revealed that he wants to continue wrestling full-time and remain on the road for at atleast the next six years. He said that he has very good communication with Triple H, who is actively trying to advance his career. The Game does not want to run wrestlers into the arena like Vince McMahon. Orton said that he can just talk to Triple H that he was feeling sore and take a week off, to which the typical response is usually, “Oh sure, yeah. As long as you communicate that to me, there is no problem.”
“I don’t want to do the old Undertaker or Shawn Michael, what they needed to do is understandable, but wrestling at WrestleMania, taking the summer off, maybe you’ll see them at SummerSlam. I want to be on the road every week, I want to make all the TV and be in all the PLEs and at 44, (just turned 44), I would love to be able to go into my 50s. Maybe I’ll wrestle until I’m 50 and call it 30 years. 30 years with the same company. On the top. I wrestled more pay-per-views than anyone else in WWE history,” said Orton.
Randy about his 30s
The Viper also said that if someone had asked him two years ago how long his in-ring career would be, he would have figured it was nearing its end. His spinal fusion surgery a year and a half ago changed things for him. Orton revealed that he was in pain his entire 30s. When he turned 35, Randy was begging for time out. Vince’s quote for him was, “Mother nature gets us all.” Orton also talked about the new environment in WWE and said it is good because the company is thinking about making talent last.
