Rajasthan Royals IPL 2024 squad hasn’t seen many changes after IPL 2024 Auction. Rajasthan Royals had the second-lowest purse going into the IPL 2024 auction. Out of 14.5 crores, they spent INR 7.4 crore on West Indies big-hitter Rovman Powell. The West Indies batter is a great pick to have for the middle-order slot.
Along with the likes of Samson and Shimron Hetmyer, the West Indies’ T20I skipper will give more strength to this middle-order. However, both the West Indies batters rely on big hits and Rajasthan knew they needed one more batter in the middle order to add more power to that batting line-up.
They went after Vidarbha batter Shubham Dubey and bought him for a big sum of 5.8 crores. He impressed everyone in this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring 221 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of close to 190. There could be a toss-up between him and Dhruv Jurel for that one slot at the number seven spot.
Royals Retain Faith In Riyan Parag
The Royals will have high hopes for Riyan Parag in that middle order as well. He is the only all-rounder present in the team. Parag has had a good Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and should come good in the upcoming season. Rajasthan should have picked one more all-rounder at the auction but they just didn’t have enough cash in their purse to complete that transaction.
Apart from Powell, they picked Nandre Burger (INR 50 lakh), who has looked impressive in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been picked for (INR 40 lakh) as a back-up opener for Jos Buttler. Unless there are any injury concerns to the latter, Cadmore isn’t likely to feature in the eleven.
Before the auction, Rajasthan had traded in Avesh Khan at the expense of Devdutt Padikkal, which could prove to be a great decision. With Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult already present, Avesh Khan will add more muscle to this fast bowling line-up.
Besides, Rajasthan Royals also have world-class spinners in their side such as Chahal, Ashwin and Zampa and they, certainly, look like a team to beat in this upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
