QPR vs Norwich City: Preview
QPR form analysis
The Hoops have endured mixed results so far at the start of 2024. After beginning the new year with a disappointing 1-2 home loss to Cardiff despite Smyth equalizing, they suffered another home defeat as Watford won 2-1 despite Dykes pulling a goal back late on. However, QPR’s form improved as they recorded back-to-back wins – first beating Millwall 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Chair and Armstrong before dramatically salvaging a late 1-1 draw away to Huddersfield when Paal netted in stoppage time to cancel out Rudoni’s opener.
Most recently, QPR returned to winning ways with an excellent 1-2 success away at Blackburn. Despite Gallagher pulling a goal back late on, an own goal from Pears and a strike from Hodge sealed a vital three points. Overall, it’s been a mixed start to 2024 for QPR who have shown spirit to recover wins and draws from losing positions but also suffered two poor home losses. Finding greater consistency is now essential if the manager wants to sustain a promotional push.
Norwich City form analysis
After ending 2023 with a 1-1 home draw against Southampton, Norwich City have found improved form at the start of 2024 as they push for promotion. They built momentum with a gritty 2-1 away win at struggling Hull courtesy of goals from Rowe and Fassnacht before an excellent 2-0 home victory over West Brom as Sargent and Rowe both scored again. Their winning run came to an end with a narrow 0-1 home loss to Leeds after Bamford’s early goal proved decisive.
However, Norwich bounced back immediately by beating playoff rivals Coventry 2-1 at home, coming from behind after conceding to O’Hare before Sargent leveled things up and Sainz netted a late winner. Overall, it’s been a positive start to 2024 for manager Wagner’s side as they have won three of their five games, keeping pace with the promotion chasing pack. Turning Carrow Road back into a fortress is crucial and the back-to-back home wins were an excellent statement of intent from the Canaries.
QPR vs Norwich City: Prediction
Less than two goals on average were scored in the last seven Championship matches at Loftus Road Stadium. A similar trend is seen in Norwich’s last four away league fixtures. Do not expect a lot of gas from this fixture.
The Canaries are in the midst of a purple patch and have lost just once in their 5 championship fixtures in 2024. They enter this contest with the upper hand as their opponent have won just once in five home league games.
