Preview (West Ham United vs. Manchester United)
In December, West Ham played six games, winning three, drawing one, and losing two. Their two losses have been crushing ones. They went down 5-0 at Fulham in the Premier League and 5-1 at Liverpool in the EFL Cup quarterfinals. However, West Ham has advanced to the Europa League’s round of 16. They have won four of their previous six games in the Premier League. It includes a 3-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home last Saturday. With a record of eight victories, three draws, and six losses, the Hammers are now in eighth place in the standings with 27 points, one less than seventh-place Man United. In contrast, West Ham has gained 14 points from their eight home league games this year.
Man United, on the other hand, hasn’t played in the league since their 0-0 draw with Liverpool last Saturday. Ten Hag’s team has only triumphed once in their last six games in all competitions. It was a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at home in the Premier League on December 6. Since then, they have suffered losses to Bayern Munich and Bournemouth, which came before the goalless draw at Anfield. With 28 points from their 17 league games this season—nine wins, one tie, and seven losses. The Red Devils are sitting in seventh position, six points behind fourth-place Manchester City.
They did not even advance to the latter stages of the Europa League. This is a crucial time of the season for Ten Hag’s team, as they will play a home game against the formidable Aston Villa on December 26 before traveling to Nottingham Forest to close off the campaign. Man United has collected 13 points from their eight away league games this season.
Team News
Michael Antonio will not play for West Ham this season owing to a persistent knee injury, although Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet should both make a full recovery from their illnesses. He plans to bring back Lucas Paqueta, James Ward-Prowse, Kurt Zouma, Aguerd, and Lukasz Fabianski. Alongside Paqueta and Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, who was linked to Manchester United throughout the summer, has five goals this season in the Premier League.
Once more, Mad Diallo, Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and Mason Mount are not available for selection. Given his previous problem, Victor Lindelof will need to be watched closely, although Anthony Martial is expected to rejoin the team after being out due to sickness. Diogo Dalot is suspended after receiving a red card at Anfield, while Christian Eriksen is back in training following a knee injury and may make the team. Because of this, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start at right-back. However, Marcus Rashford may still have to wait for his first Premier League start. Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony are expected to back Rasmus Hojlund. The latter is still yet to score in the top division of England.
