Udinese will be looking for their first win of the season when they host Frosinone in the Serie A. The Udine outfit are winless after two games, while their visitors secured a stunning victory over Atalanta BC last weekend.
Preview (Udinese vs. Frosinone)
Udinese was unfortunate to play Juventus in round one when they were in incredible form. They ended up losing 3-0 to Massimiliano Allegri’s team, with all three goals coming in the opening period. The following game week, Andrea Sottil’s team responded with a 1-1 draw at Salernitana. It was a result that shouldn’t have surprised spectators given their opponent’s propensity for stalemates. In 2022–23, the Little Zebras only suffered four losses at home. Two of those setbacks occurred toward the conclusion of the season when they had little to play for.
This weekend, Sottil’s team will wager on themselves to be the third-time lucky in an effort to forget about their humiliating first-half loss against Juventus a fortnight ago. Frosinone plays at Udinese in their first away game since winning promotion to the top division. Despite losing to Napoli, the incumbent Serie A champions, in round one, Eusebio Di Francesco’s team managed to upset Atalanta last weekend, overcoming the Bergamaschi 2-1.
With early goals against the Partenopei and La Dea as evidence, the Canaries have a tendency to push forward early in games; whether they do so on Saturday remains to be seen. Frosinone won’t be aggressive in the first minutes of the game because they are playing away from home. They will have to come up with a different strategy. Di Francesco aims to surpass his previous best of nine points earned away from home in 2016–17 and 16 in 2018–19 for a team that many predict will finish in the bottom three once more.
Team News
Gerard Deulofeu, Enzo Ebosse, Kingsley Ehizibue, Simone Pafundi, Brenner, Adam Masina, and Daniele Padelli are among a long list of Udinese players who are absent this weekend due to injuries. Lorenzo Lucca and Florian Thauvin will start at the top of the lineup in place of Beto. Lazar Samardzic should also feature right away after rejoining the team following a failed transfer to Inter Milan. Following the completion of his one-game suspension for swearing during game week one’s loss to Napoli. Stefano Turati should rejoin the team. No fresh injuries have arisen for Frosinone, although Karlo Lulic and Sergio Kalaj are out.
Abdou Harroui scored against Napoli and Atalanta in the first seven minutes as a result of the new lads’ quick beginnings, and the Moroccan is anticipated to start on Saturday. The high-scoring, exciting matches Udinese played at Dacia Arena in 22–23 are expected to continue this season. Despite being a mystery, Frosinone has demonstrated enough to feel confident of earning a point in a goal-filled match in Udine.
