Roma head coach Jose Mourinho will return to the sidelines as they host AC Milan in Serie A. Milan’s flawless start has made them the slight favorites in one of the highlight matches in what appears.
Preview (Roma vs. AC Milan)
Due to transgressions from last season, Mourinho has already come under fire after Roma’s shaky start without him. He has also been serving a touchline suspension. Despite scoring twice on the first day, Mourinho has never liked Andrea Belotti. Lukaku will work with the manager who brought him to Manchester United in 2017. This summer, Roma welcomed a lot of new players. Mourinho has been brutally honest in saying that each of them has something to prove. In a season that was primarily unsatisfactory, Lukaku did display some encouraging traits. After earning just one point from two winnable season-opening contests, Mourinho needs a response from his team.
Then, Roma lost to Hellas Verona 2-1 at the Bentegodi, with a dismal first-half performance having a detrimental effect. Roma hasn’t lost their first three league games since the 2011–12 campaign. Stopping them from doing so will be challenging. That is a result of AC Milan’s outstanding start. They are in first place with a spotless record thus far and the greatest goal differential in the league. Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud of France each contributed at either end of the field to help Stefano Pioli’s team defeat Bologna 2-0 to start the season. Christian Pulisic not only scored on his debut but also added another goal in last weekend’s 4-1 demolition of Torino.
The US international moved to the top of the Serie A scoring charts after Giroud also converted two penalties in the blowout. The US international became just the sixth player in Milan’s history to score in both of his first two league games. The four teams with the most points are Milan, Napoli, Verona, and Inter, but given the style of their victories, the Rossoneri have appeared to be the most impressive.
Team News
Paulo Dybala will not be playing for Roma since the Argentine forward injured his thigh against Verona last Saturday. Leonardo Spinazzola could make a comeback in this game because left wing-back Nicola Zalewski, who had a concussion in the last game, is anticipated to be sidelined. Sanches has just played 26 minutes in a Roma jersey, but he is already back on the operating table, adding to his frustrations from last season at Paris Saint-Germain. Azmoun, who was hurt while playing for Bayer Leverkusen, has joined Abraham and Marash Kumbulla in the long-term injured list. Due to his treatment at Chelsea, Lukaku has not participated in any match practice during the preseason.
Early Milan performance implies Pioli won’t switch sides in this match, therefore Samuel Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, and Yunus Musah will have to continue competing for a spot in the team. Roma has scored in 20 of their last 21 home games and in nine of their last 10 games there have been three or more goals. If they can get Lukaku on the field at any moment, that will also increase their goal threat. However, Milan has had a great start and hasn’t lost to Roma since October 2019, winning four and drawing three of their last seven meetings despite only winning three of their final 14 road games from last season.
