Real Madrid will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Las Palmas in the La Liga. Kirian Rodriguez’s injury-time goal gave Los Amarillos their first victory of the campaign in their most recent match against Granada, which they won 1-0.
Preview (Real Madrid vs. Las Palmas)
Alvaro Morata scored a brace to add salt to injury as Real Madrid lost 3-1 to Atletico Madrid on Sunday. They have 64% of the possession and 20 shots on goal at the Metropolitano Stadium. The team led by Carlo Ancelotti began the season on a six-game winning streak. They won five straight La Liga matches before overcoming Union Berlin in their Champions League debut. Amazingly, during the six-game winning streak, new player Jude Bellingham scored six goals. It propelled his team to victory over Athletic Bilbao, Almeria, Celta Vigo, Getafe, and Real Sociedad. He also scored the game-winning goal for Real Madrid on his Champions League debut.
Bellingham, a 20-year-old midfielder, has quickly emerged as one of La Liga’s brightest players. He has stepped up in the absence of injured attacker Vinicius Junior. He has missed the past four games despite failing to spark another comeback against Atletico. Kirian Rodriguez’s exquisite long-range strike in the 92nd minute gave Las Palmas their first victory of the season. The victory came in dramatic circumstances against Granada on Sunday. They dominated significant portions of the second half while limiting Granada to just one shot on goal.
It is important to note that Las Palmas had performed admirably since being promoted from the second division last season, amassing two draws and three losses prior to their victory on Sunday, with losses against Valencia, Girona, and Sevilla all coming by a score of 1-0. The Canary Islands may have the lowest goal total in the competition. Garcia Pimienta’s club has allowed the fewest goals in La Liga in 2023–24. Las Palmas will be confident that they can win the match on Sunday at the Bernabeu.
Team News
Vinicius Junior, a star for Real Madrid, has returned from a hamstring injury but was ill on Sunday. There are concerns about Dani Carvajal’s health after he missed the previous two games with a muscle issue. Additionally, Los Blancos are still missing Thibaut Courtois (knee), Arda Guler (knee), and Eder Militao (knee), thus Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga will continue to fill in as the goalkeeper. Despite the dismal loss to Atletico, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Federico Valverde are anticipated to keep their spots in the starting lineup for Bellingham, who will continue to support Rodrygo offensively.
The Los Amarillos’ injury list still includes Fabio Gonzalez (ankle), Alberto Moleiro (muscle), Benito Ramirez (thigh), and Sandro Ramirez (muscle), while Las Palmas defender Mika Marmol will be suspended and unable to go to the Bernabeu. Saul Coco, an international for Equatorial Guinea, is expected to take Marmol’s place in the opposition’s back line, with Munir El Haddadi, a former player for Barcelona, Sevilla, and Getafe, serving as the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation. Las Palmas, with the division’s joint-best defensive record, will not make life simple for Real Madrid, but Ancelotti’s team is likely to resume winning ways with a spirited victory at home.
