Preview (Norwich City vs. Sheffield Wednesday)
Despite experiencing a challenging start to the Championship season under David Wagner, Norwich City is hoping to turn things around when they return to Carrow Road in midweek. This is even though they saw a surge in performance around the time of the November international break. With eight wins and nine losses from their 20 games played so far in England’s second tier, the Canaries have amassed 27 points from their 20 games this season. However, they had a rough patch from early October to early November. They lost five of their six games and drew one against Coventry City. It caused them to drop out of the playoff spots.
Before the recent break, David Wagner’s team was at least able to get back to winning ways, barely won 3-2 away to Cardiff City before making a comeback with a close 1-0 victory at home against struggling Queens Park Rangers. After losing 3-2 at Watford, the Canaries bounced back to win 2-1 away at Bristol City. Adam Idah’s goal in the 95th minute after George Tanner’s own goal leveled the score put them ahead. They now go into Wednesday’s game fresh off a goalless draw at home against a struggling Preston.
Despite having three wins in their last five Championship games, Norwich is undoubtedly not playing well under Wagner. With pressure mounting and a three-point gap between them and the playoff spots, they will be eager to recover on Wednesday and continue their better run. Sheffield Wednesday, who have risen from the bottom of the division for the first time since mid-September.
