Torino vs Lazio: Preview
Torino form analysis
Torino’s recent Serie A form has been inconsistent with two wins and three draws in their last five league matches. They started this run with a goalless draw away to struggling Genoa before an impressive 2-1 win away at Cagliari. Diego Zapata opened the scoring in the first half before Samuele Ricci doubled Torino’s advantage. Despite a late consolation goal from Nicola Viola, Torino held on for an important away victory. However, Torino were held to back-to-back goalless home draws by Salernitana and Sassuolo next. Away to Sassuolo, Zapata quickly equalized Andrea Pinamonti’s opener but Torino could not find a winner. Most recently, Torino bounced back with an important 2-0 home win over Lecce. Right-back Raoul Bellanova broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half before Zapata wrapped up the victory late on. So while Torino have been solid defensively, they have struggled to score goals from open play. If they are to reach the top table, they will need to find more attacking spark and consistency in front of goal.
Lazio form analysis
Lazio have been inconsistent in their recent Serie A matches, struggling for both results and performance levels. They started this five game stretch with three wins, including a 1-0 home victory over Lecce secured by a Felipe Anderson goal. However, a goalless draw at league leaders Napoli showed Lazio’s offensive limitations against quality opposition. In their next match away to Atalanta, Lazio were soundly beaten 3-1, with Ciro Immobile’s late penalty a mere consolation. Lazio did bounce back with an important 3-1 away win against struggling Cagliari, with Immobile again on the scoresheet alongside Felipe Anderson’s strike. But defensive issues resurfaced in their most recent match, a disappointing 2-1 home loss to Bologna. Despite Gaussin Isaksen’s early opener, second half goals from Omar El Azzouzi and Joshua Zirkzee gave Bologna the comeback win. Overall, Lazio have struggled to find consistent results and fluent attacking performances. While Immobile remains a goal threat, Lazio’s defense and midfield play has been worryingly inconsistent. Significant improvement is needed if Lazio are to push further up the table.
