Kayserispor will be looking to end a run of defeats when they host Isanbulspor in the Super Lig. With just seven points from their 20 league games this season, Istanbulspor sits at the bottom of the division. The hosts are now ranked ninth in Turkey’s premier flight.
Preview (Kayserispor vs. Istanbulspor)
With eight victories, five draws, and seven losses from their 20 Turkish Super Lig games this season. There is no denying that the hosts’ recent performance has been dreadful. They are only three points behind fifth-place Rizespor and level on points with sixth-place Adana Demirspor. The team led by Recep Ucar has suffered defeat in all six of their previous games across all competitions. Their most recent win came on December 10 in the Turkish Super Lig, where they defeated Pendikspor 2-0.
Kayserispor will go into this encounter fresh off a 2-1 loss at home to Genclerbirligi in the Turkish Cup. They have lost their past five league games, including a 2-1 setback away to Galatasaray on January 15. With 18 points from 10 games played at home this season, Ucar’s team has shown promise at home. However, they will be hosting Istanbulspor, who have the poorest away record in the division for 2023–24.
With just seven points from their 20 league games this season, Hakan Yakin’s team is abysmally low in the division and sits fourteen points outside of the safety of 16th place. Even though Kayserispor has been having difficulties lately, Istanbulspor has lost seven and drawn two of its nine league away games this season, so their supporters won’t exactly be feeling optimistic going into this encounter. The Bulls, who placed 12th in the Turkish Super Lig the previous season, have not won since defeating Hatayspor 2-1 at the end of November. However, they have drawn their past two games against Konyaspor and Adana Demirspor, which is undoubtedly a positive development.
Team News
Several first-team players, including Anthony Uzodimma, who is sidelined with a muscle issue, would be difficult for Kayserispor to replace. Gokhan Sazdagi, the number 11, will also not be playing because of the milestone booking he received during the team’s most recent league matchup, a 2-1 loss to Galatasaray. At the Africa Cup of Nations, Maumid Hosseini, Carlos Mane, Julien Janvier, and Olivier Kemen are competing. The 30-year-old Aylton Boa Morte has seven goals for Kayserispor this season. Due to a hamstring injury, Eduardo Rroca will miss Istanbulspor’s next game. Jackson should get another start. Valon Ethemi has only managed one goal for the struggling team this season.
Kayserispor 1-0 Istanbulspor
