Kayserispor will host Antalyaspor in the Super Lig on Monday. The Anatolian Star have lost all eight of their previous games in all competitions, while the visitors enter the game having won their past six games since the year’s beginning.
Preview (Kayserispor vs Antalyaspor)
At the Samsun 19 May Stadium on Thursday, Kayserispor lost 2-0 to Samsunspor, demonstrating their inability to halt the bleeding. Zeki Yavru, a Turkish full-back, was involved in both goals. He gave the Red Lightning the lead with an incredible free kick in the 10th minute. He then set up Ercan Kara for the second goal in the 57th. After losing their last eight games in a row in all competitions, Kayserispor’s Turkiye Kupasi campaign ended on January 18 with a 2-1 loss to Genclerbirligi, a lower-division team.
Their recent defensive lapses have been the cause of this terrible run of results. Before this run, Burak Yilmaz’s team had kept six clean sheets in eight games. Despite a recent decline in performance, Kayserispor is now tied for 13th place in the Super Lig standings. If they win all three points on Monday, they will tie eighth-place Kasimpasa. On the other side, Antalyaspor kept up their pressure to go back to Europe. They defeated Sivasspor 2-1 on Wednesday at the Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadium.
Bengali-Fode Koita kept up his impressive goal-scoring streak as he put Sivasspor ahead against the run of play in the 13th minute. Adam Buksa then equalized from the penalty spot in the 28th minute. Dario Saric finished the comeback just before halftime. With three draws and three victories in their six games since the start of the year, Antalyaspor has now gone undefeated. On January 17, they defeated Pendikspor 2-1 to advance to the Turkiye Kupasi round of 16. In addition, Sergen Yalcin’s team has won 10 and lost six of their previous 17 games in all competitions. Their only defeat came on Christmas Eve at the hands of Adana Demirspor 2-1.
Team News
Both Julian Jeanvier and 27-year-old defender Mahmud Hosseini are away on international duty with Guinea and Iran, respectively, so Kayserispor will need to find other ways to stay competitive. The seasoned attacker Stephane Bahoken will not play in Monday’s encounter. He has missed the Anatolian Star’s last two games after being injured against Genclerbirligi on January 18. Nigerian midfielder Anthony Uzodimma has been out since early December due to a muscle issue.
Due to a club suspension, Israeli striker Sagiv Jehezkel has missed Antalyaspor’s last three games. He is not eligible to play on Monday. A relatively full-strength team is at Yalcin’s disposal because the Scorpions have no suspension problems and an otherwise perfect health record. Buksa currently has 10 goals in 19 league games after his last-minute equalizer against Sivasspor, and we anticipate the Lens loanee to lead Antalyaspor’s attack once more.
