Livingston form analysis
Livingston’s recent run highlights a struggling team lacking attacking threat and defensive resilience. After losing 2-1 at home to Hearts, Livi suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Dundee as their defence was ripped apart on the counterattack. They showed spirit to come from behind and draw 2-2 with Ross County, but attacking limitations were exposed in a toothless 3-0 loss away at Rangers.
Manager David Martindale was unable to spark improvement as Livi suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat away at relegation rivals Kilmarnock, with Watkins’ late winner punishing their lack of creativity. If Livingston can add more spark in attack and greater resilience defensively, they have the tools to pull away from trouble. St Mirren form analysis
St. Mirren’s recent results highlight a resilient, organised team capable of upsetting superior opponents. After an excellent 3-0 win away at Aberdeen, the Buddies were narrowly beaten 1-0 at home by Rangers despite a stubborn defensive display. Their ability to stifle better teams was evident again as they secured an impressive 3-0 victory away at Hibernian, taking their chances clinically.
St Mirren then beat Dundee 2-0 at home in an efficient performance, with Mandron netting again. Overall, manager Stephen Robinson has made St Mirren tough to break down and dangerous on the counterattack. They may lack the flair of other teams but are well-drilled and effective. If St Mirren can add a little more attacking spark to complement their grit and organisation, they have potential to push for a top six spot. But maintaining their defensive solidarity will be crucial as they look to consolidate their position in the coming weeks. With Robinson at the helm, this St Mirren side won’t be easily beaten.
