Lille vs Lorient: Preview
Lille form analysis
Les Dogues have shown inconsistent form over their past five Ligue 1 matches, struggling to build positive momentum. On 27th November they earned an impressive 0-2 away win at rivals Lyon. Thanks to goals from David and debutant Santos. Things got better on 3rd December as Lille cruised past Metz 2-0 through goals right on halftime from Yazıcı and David’s penalty.
However their attacking form dried up on 10th December during a goalless home draw with lowly Clermont. Impressively on 18th December Lille rallied late to draw 1-1 at home against league leaders PSG. Responding to Mbappé’s penalty through David’s last gasp leveler. But they failed to build on that platform as on 21st December defensive issues emerged in a 1-2 home loss to Strasbourg, undone by own goals from Sylla and Yoro either side of Mwanga snatching a winner for the visitors. Overall Lille must regain stability against sides around them in the table to sustain a push for European qualification.
Lorient form analysis
Lorient have severely struggled for positive results over their past five Ligue 1 matches, conceding regularly. On 26th November they suffered a late 2-3 home loss in a thriller with Metz despite scoring through Faivre and Kroupi due to injuries forcing them down to nine men. Things stabilized on 3rd December as they fought back to draw 1-1 away at Toulouse thanks to Dieng’s stoppage time equalizer after Dallinga put the hosts ahead.
However, defensive issues persisted on 11th December during a 2-4 home thrashing by Marseille, briefly threatening a comeback through goals from Faivre and Mendy after going three down inside 33 minutes. The goals flowed freely again on 17th December as more defensive problems cost Lorient in a 1-2 home loss to Strasbourg, pulling one back through Dieng between Bakwa and Gameiro goals. Most recently on 21st December, they collapsed to a humiliating 0-4 home defeat against Brest courtesy of a ruthless Doumbia first half hat trick and fourth goal.
