BAN W vs AUS W: Bangladesh Women has announced the ODI Squad for a three-match ODI series against Australia Women. The announced squad will feature uncapped wicketkeeper, Farzana Haque Lisa. On the other hand, fifteen-year-old Nishita Akter Nishi who played two ODIs against Pakistan in 2023 will also feature in the ODI squad.
Wicket-keeper batter, Shamima Sultana has replaced Farzana in the squad. Lata Mondal and Shorifa Khatun, who had been part of Bangladesh’s squad during their tour to South Africa, have been listed as standby players along with Fariha Trisna, who was part of the reserves in South Africa as well. All three ODIs will be played in day time at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The ODI series will be a part of the ICC Women’s Championship, of which Australia is the current table-topper with ten wins in 15 games. Bangladesh has won four out of 15 matches & is currently placed in seventh place at the Points Table.
Bangladesh has registered wins against India, South Africa & Pakistan in their last three ODI series. They have ended an ODI series against India in a tie. At the same time, Bangladesh won a Super Over fixture against Pakistan in an ODI in Mirpur in November and pulled off a 119-run win in East London the following month. But this tour is special for Bangladesh as it will be the first time they will host Australian women. This tour will also comprise three T20Is – day games in Mirpur – followed by the ODIs.
Meanwhile, Australia Women has also announced their squad for the three-match ODI series. And much to everyone’s amusement all-rounder Grace Harris has been called up to the national team as the replacement for the injured pacer Darcie Brown ahead of the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. The decision came as Brown was ruled out of the tour due to a foot injury. Harris now gets an opportunity to display her talents in the 50-over format.
