Neeraj Chopra, an Indian javelin thrower, won a historic silver medal at the World Athletics Championship 2022 on Sunday, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his congratulations to him. Neeraj is the first male track and field athlete under the age of 24 to take home a medal from the World Championships. He hit the silver with his best throw of 88.13 meters. Anderson Peters of Grenada, the defending champion, won the gold medal with a best throw of 90.54 meters. After Neeraj Chopra won the first gold medal for India at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised him on Monday. In his second effort, Neeraj threw his greatest throw, measuring 88.17 meters, and he was able to maintain his lead to the finish line.

With a throw of 87.82 meters, Commonwealth Games champion Arshad Nadeem accepted silver. Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch won the medal with a best throw of 86.67 meters.
DP Manu (best of 84.14 m) came in sixth, followed by Kishore Jena (best of 84.77 m).
Anurag Thakur, the union’s minister of sports, gushed about Neeraj. Sharing a clip from the competition, he noted that the young Indian athlete has now triumphed at every international competition.

About World Championships Win
At the current World Championships, India has won medals in every color. After winning a silver medal in the World Championships the previous year, Neeraj now has two medals to his name. Anju Bobby George was India’s last medallist in the famous international competition. She won bronze in the women’s long jump at the 2003 World Championships.
