He looked in pain and it is being reported that he might miss the second Test match, slated to take place in Vishakhapatnam from 2nd to 6th February 2024. Although the severity of the hamstring injury is yet to be known the date of his return is too. The likes of KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Virat Kohli will also be unavailable for the 2nd Test.
3 Players Who Can Replace All-Rounder Jadeja in IND vs ENG 2nd Test
1. Washington Sundar
In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar could be an ideal replacement. Sundar bowls right-arm off break and bats left-handed. On the turning track in sub-continent pitches, Washington Sundar could pose a great threat by bowling discipline lengths and extracting a good amount of turn.
Besides, his exploits with the bat aren’t unknown to the world, either. The 24-year-old has an experience of playing 4 Test matches for India so far, which includes three half-centuries. Besides, he has picked six wickets with the ball as well.
2. Shams Mulani
Shams Mulani grabbed headlines while playing for Mumbai during the 2021-22 Ranji season. He was the highest wicket-taker with the ball and had picked eight five-wicket hauls in 11 matches during that season. He is now a regular member of India A side as well and has dished out quite a few exceptional performances for the side. The 26-year-old promising all-rounder could be a great choice as the replacement. So far, he has managed to claim 155 wickets in 31 matches at an average of 22.
3. Sourabh Kumar
Sourabh Kumar has been a consistent performer on the domestic circuit for many years now. The Uttar-Pradesh all-rounder was also part of the India A squad for the two four-day Test matches against England Lions. He made headlines in October last year on the back of his outstanding spell against Saurashtra. He picked 10 wickets in the match and helped the Rest of India reach the final of the Irani Cup title.
In his first-class career thus far, he has picked 290 wickets in 68 matches at 24.42. Besides, he has also scored 2061 runs at an average of 27.11.
India lost the first Test against England by 28 runs at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Sunday. It was a poor batting display from Rohit Sharma and Co. and the fans would be hoping for a better performance from them.
