On August 14, Pakistan observed its 77th anniversary of independence. On this important occasion, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) published a special promotional film that featured footage of some of the most iconic occasions in the nation’s lengthy cricketing past. PCB, however, faced harsh criticism from the cricket community after publishing the WC promotional video. Since Imran Khan, the nation’s renowned World Cup-winning captain, was not included in it.
Imran is regarded as one of the best all-around players and captains in international cricket, according to the uninitiated. The 1992 World Cup in Australia was won by Pakistan because of his inspiring leadership. Thus, the victory in 1992 and Imran’s efforts are often mentioned when cricket fans debate the best moments in Pakistan’s cricketing history.

After receiving harsh criticism, PCB released an updated version of the earlier video on August 16; this time, they included footage of Imran holding the coveted World Cup trophy, Misbah-ul-Haq winning the Test match, the women’s team winning the Asian Games, and Nida Dar’s 100-wicket milestone. The initial video was shortened because it was too long, according to the nation’s cricket governing body, which also noted that the new video was the complete version.
“The PCB has started a marketing campaign in preparation for the CWC 2023. On August 14, 2023, one of the videos was posted online. The video was shortened since it was so long, and some crucial portions were left out. The full version of the video has this fixed.” according to the video caption by PCB.
Babar Azam’s team will play Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series starting with the opening game on August 22 at Hambantota, Sri Lanka, with an eye on the Asia Cup and the ensuing 50-over World Cup. Before the teams go to Colombo for the third match on August 26, the second ODI will also be played there on August 24.
