When Roman Reigns made his WWE return in 2020 as a heel after six long years, he came with the iconic manager Paul Heyman. He even changed his nickname in the company from ‘The Big Dog’ to ‘Head of the Table.’ He returned and captured the WWE Universal Championship by defeating Bray Wyatt. Later in 2022, he took on his arch-rival and Heyman’s former client Brock Lesnar. Reigns and Lesnar faced each other in a champion vs. champion (winner takes it all match) match at WrestleMania 38.
Heyman shares a good bond with Reigns off screen
Reigns defeated “The Beast,” became a double champion, and was crowned as the WWE Undisputed Champion. After a stunning and dominating reign of four years, “The Tribal Chief” was defeated by Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL and his historic championship run ended. Paul Heyman has contributed a lot to making Reigns’ name one of the greatest in wrestling history. In the recently released trailer of A&E biography dedicated to Paul Heyman, he talked about his bond with Reigns on-screen and off-screen. “Brock wasn’t here, and I can’t imagine anybody else other than Roman Reigns making me come to work every day with that passion. I work very closely behind the scenes with Roman Reigns as well,” said Heyman.
Roman Reigns praised Heyman
Reigns has also never shied away from giving credit to The Wiseman. This year “The Tribal Chief” had the honor of inducting Paul Heyman into the Hall of Fame Class of 2024, where he stated that the day Roman Reigns is not with Paul Heyman, he will no longer be The Tribal Chief. In the recent trailer of the A&E biography,Reigns was also seen praising Heyman and he explained how his journey becomes easier when Heyman is with him. “He takes away all the little stresses, being on the road is tough. I can focus on what I need to focus on and he makes it easier,” said Reigns.
The former Undisputed champion is expected to return and reunite with Paul Heyman at the SummerSlam 2024 Premium live event for the first time since losing to The American Nightmare at WrestleMania XL. The biggest party of Summer is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in Ohio.
