Paul Heyman is known for his incredible storytelling ability and he has once again proven why he is one of WWE’s top creative minds. According to a report by PWInsider, the most recent episode of WWE SmackDown, The Wiseman was deeply involved in directing the highly anticipated face-off cinematic segment between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. The segment is being praised for its production quality and the intensity it held. It was shot at Georgia’s Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium ahead of the show and involved a key production team, including Paul Heyman, Jeremy Borash and Rob Fee.
Paul’s involvement enhanced the segment
The production values were great, but many believe it was Heyman who directed the amazing segment and took it to a different level. There have been many high-stakes clashes between Reigns and Rhodes, but this one was unique. It could have been a flop or a huge success, but Paul’s direction and involvement ensured its emotional weight and tension needed to enhance their ongoing partnership and potential rivalry. Heyman personally directed both superstars.
Borash and Fee also deserves the credit
Credit must also be given to Borash, WWE’s senior director of content and development. He played a leading role in the creation of this scene. Borash, a former TNA wrestling executive, has become Triple H’s go-to man for these on-location segments. He has previously done some work on the company’s cinematic productions and his work is being considered crucial to the new production style WWE is adopting. Speaking of the production style, WWE’s director of character development, Rob Fee, who has recently worked on similar projects, was also present on site. He worked closely with Borash. Fee is known for his work on the vignettes that brought Bray Wyatt back to WWE.

The cinematic segment has been highly praised, with many calling it one of the best moments in recent WWE programming. The segment had drama, intensity, storytelling and everything without pretentiousness. With efforts of Heyman, Borash, and Fee, the Stamford-based promotion delivered a segment that the WWE Universe is very appreciative of and wants to see more of. It’s unclear how often WWE will come back to something like this and if they will use this technique often. They might use it clearly for big moments and not overuse it.
