Australian skipper Pat Cummins is looking forward to the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy with renewed determination and a sense of unfinished business. In his recent remarks, Cummins acknowledged Australia’s recent struggles against India on home soil and expressed his eagerness to turn the tide.
“You know, the last two series here in Australia, we haven’t been successful, so it’s been a long time,” Cummins said, reflecting on the challenges his team has faced. “Hopefully, it’s time to make amends.”
The Australian captain highlighted the intense rivalry between the two cricketing giants, pointing out that while India has had the upper hand in recent encounters, Australia has also enjoyed its fair share of victories. “We’ve played them plenty of times where they’ve beaten us, but we’ve also had plenty of wins against them as well, where we’ll draw confidence off.”
Cummins also took a moment to reflect on Australia’s recent success in the World Test Championship final, where they triumphed over India in neutral conditions.
“The most recent Test match was obviously the World Test Championship in neutral conditions, and we got up in that Test match,” he said. “It’s always fiercely competitive; it always feels like it’s 50-50.”
As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, Cummins is more than ready for the challenge. “I am 10 out of 10 excited for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” he declared, emphasizing his anticipation for what promises to be a fiercely contested series.
