PAK vs AUS: Pakistan is all set to play a three-match Test series against Australia in Australia, scheduled to start on 14th December. Before that, they will play a 4-day warm-up match between 6th and 9th December 2023 in Canberra.
Since making their early exit from the 2023 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket have undergone a lot of changes from captaincy to management personnel. They have appointed a new Test captain Shan Masood and his team has reached Australia a week before the scheduled arrival to prepare themselves fully for the challenge.
For the unversed, Pakistan has not won a single Test match against Australia in Australia since 1995. They will be coming into the first Test on the back of 14 consecutive Test losses. Thus, to maintain their top position in the current World Test Championship cycle isn’t going to be an easy task.
Meanwhile, a picture has been doing the rounds on social media where the Pakistan Cricket players were seen carrying their luggage onto the container truck. Pakistan fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi has now sought clarification on that, stating that the team was running late as they had to catch a flight in 30 minutes. Thus, all the team members decided to offer their hand in carrying the luggage.
“We only had 30 minutes to catch our next flight and we helped because there were just two people. We wanted to wrap it up fast and to save time,” said Shaheen ahead of Pakistan’s first practice session in Canberra on Sunday. “We call this team a family and helped them as a family.”
Pakistan will be playing a four-match warm-up Test in Canberra, which should serve as a good preparation ahead of the first Test match.
“We don’t have much experience of Canberra, but I am sure this four-day match against PM XI will help us prepare well for the series against the home team starting from Perth,” he explained.
Following the first Test match, the two teams will meet in Melbourne, while the final Test match will be played in Sydney.
Pakistan batter, Babar Azam has resigned from the captain across formats but he is part of the Test team. Now that he has been relieved from the captaincy pressure, it would be interesting if he could take his game a notch higher.
