The Asian Games, which ended on Sunday, saw India win a record-breaking 107 medals, including 28 golds. India received 37 more medals in Hangzhou than they did in the 2018 event, which was their previous high.
“After this record-breaking performance in the Hangzhou Asian Games, if our country’s athletes, coaches, and national federations work hard, I feel we can win double-digit medals in the Paris Olympics,” Usha told PTI today.
“The government is making every effort to support the athletes and improve Indian sports. Our country’s sports are very important to our prime minister. She claimed that India should now submit an Olympic bid.
“We ought to submit an Olympic bid for 2036. India will undoubtedly take home more medals in the Paris Games than it did in Tokyo, and once we have the medals to prove it, we will be able to host the Olympics, said the 59-year-old former track sensation affectionately referred to as “Payyoli Express.”
India’s interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics might be publicly expressed by the government during the IOC meeting in Mumbai from October 15 to October 17.
The IOC has departed from the conventional bidding procedure following recent revisions. The Executive Board will be presented with the Future Host Commission’s chosen choice once the interested nations have submitted their proposals of interest.
When a bid is submitted, the Executive Board can engage in focused discussion before deciding whether to propose that a proposal be put to a vote at an IOC session.
